Mission Statement:
Good Shepherd Farm Alpacas’ ambition is to produce superior fiber from the
physiologically vigorous alpaca. We strive for healthy, vigorous, beautifully fibered,
with correct conformation, Huacaya & Suri alpacas with very sound genetics with
a breeding program backed by ALPACAfax.

Good Shepherd Farm Alpacas believes that for the Alpaca industry, the most
significant role a breeder plays is the thoughtful and attentive care of the alpacas.
Knowledge is the key to this ever growing endeavor. Good Shepherd Farm
Alpacas’ goal is to educate and train ourselves and then our clients about
practical day-to-day care, breeding and the most current health issues and
    concerns.

We believe in community involvement that is designed to promote the alpaca
industry and have a passion to educate, inform, and maintain high industry
    standards.

Good Shepherd Farm Alpacas, has taken a leadership role in assisting alpaca
enthusiasts to achieve their full potential through networking, marketing, and
nurturing. As breeders, we pledge to provide professional service to our clients
with honesty, attentiveness of their business goals, time and finances. By sharing
our breeding and marketing program, ALPACAfax, we open our clients to the
foundation for building a solid, manageable infrastructure for their own businesses.

We are advocates for proper care for all alpacas. Reproductive soundness,
excellent mothering skills, and glowing health are the cornerstones of our breeding
program. We value functional traits over extremes or fads in either conformation or
fiber production. Among our breeding goals is the preservation of the unique and
diverse colors and fleece patterns of the alpaca. We strongly believe that genetic
diversity is the key to healthy alpacas.

We believe EVERY alpaca deserves first class care.
    This includes:
    1.        Providing grass hay that is available at all times along with grain, mineral,
              and vitamin supplements.
    2.        Clean pastures with clean dung piles and sand/dirt rolls for the animals
               to maintain their fiber condition.
    3.        Adequate climate controlled shelters.
    4.        Fresh water at all times.
    5.        More than enough space for each alpaca to run, play, for a stress free
              environment.
    6.        Up to date immunizations and worming.
    7.        Proper Husbandry - nails clipped, ears cleaned, teeth checked/floated, body
               scored each month;
    8.        Excellent Veterinary care when required.

To us, the most rewarding work is work that is loved. We will do all we can to
facilitate alpacas as a way to realize financial success and emotional well-being.

First, through the grace of God, we hope to achieve our Mission Statement by
building friendships with honesty & integrity.

    Breeding & Marketing Strategy:
As Good Shepherd Farm grows, our main priority is to breed alpacas for
Soundness, Body Structure and Fiber Handle. An alpacas life span is generally
from fifteen to twenty five years and with proper care and management, we as
breeders, can provide a quality of life that is not comparable to life in the wild.

Alpaca Soundness - The alpaca's health is the key to both Body Structure and
Fiber Handle. Simply stating, a healthy alpaca is a happy alpaca. A healthy
alpacas will provide years of quality fleece and also years of enjoyment for it's
    owner.

Body Structure - A sound alpacas will exhibit a well balanced body with a
balanced proportion between the length of leg, neck, and body, presenting
sufficient width of chest, depth of body, and capacity for maintaining adequate
nutrition and reproduction. We encourage everyone to view the breed standard
set forth by International Alpaca Judging School Council's
Huacaya and Suri Breed Standards 2007

Fiber Handle -  relates to the handle of the fleece.  M

At Good Shepherd Farm Alpacas, we have combined our Breeding and
Marketing Strategies to breed for offspring that we can market. By doing this, we
have created the ALPACAfaxTM program. ALPACAfax gathers all information
from the alpaca's lineage to obtain alpaca color statistics, gender ratios, pictures,
and descriptions of alpacas in the lineage and their offspring, show records, along
with market values, average male price, average female price, and average stud
fees. This information is gathered into a report to find the best breeding match
    available.

To Good Shepherd Farm Alpacas, breeding is not only a science, but an art. We
are very pleased with the results of our extensive and all inclusive Breeding &
Marketing program named, ALPACAfax TM. By selecting breedings for genetic
soundness, chastened phenotype, productive reproduction, commercially viable
fiber, desirable temperaments and natural instincts, we are producing alpacas
with overall quality that are healthy, live long, productive, lives.

Fiber characteristics play a major role in choosing our breedings. The traits we
look for are crimp, luster, staple length, fiber diameter, and density. ALPACAfax is
not able to report on these traits and their must be a hands on approach to make
    this decision.

ALPACAfax also sets the standard for pricing by allowing potential clients to
know the value of the alpaca and it's lineage before any purchase is made. Before
a breeding occurs, an ALPACAfax report is created an all statistics like color,
gender, lineage values  are studied.  A proposed value of the offspring is then
known before any breeding. We believe ALPACAfax is the foundation to build
from and it will aide in establishing our herd and others who take advantage of this
program. ALPACAfax is available in our Seminar Series Alpaca P.O.B. , to all
new breeders, potentially new breeders, our clients, and is available with all
    alpacas on Good Shepherd Farm.
